INEC Declares Tinubu Winner Of Nigeria’s 2023 Election
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress has been declared winner of Nigeria’s 2023 Presidential Elections.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, announced the former Lagos State Governor’s victory by 4am on Wednesday at the National Collation Centre in Abuja.
Announcing the result, INEC boss, Prof Yakubu said: “That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
According to INEC, Tinubu, 70, won in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states with a total of 8,794,726 votes.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 76, of the Peoples Democratic Party, came second with a total of 6,984,520 votes, while the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, with a total of 6,101,533 votes.
Former Kano State Governor and candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, was declared fourth with a total 1,496,687 votes.
The announcement of the Presidential Election result came four days after the hotly contested election.
