Tinubu Emerges APC Presidential Candidate

Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has emerged the Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

 Tinubu, the National Leader of APC, swept the polls in today’s Special Convention of the APC, garnering 1271 votes.

He is followed by Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, a former Governor of Rivers State who scored 316 votes, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, who scored 235 votes and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, who got 152 votes.

Governor Dave Umahi scored 38 votes, Governor Yahaya Bello Got 47 votes,, Governor Ben Ayade got 37 votes while Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu got one vote

Aspirants that recorded zero (0) votes included former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha and Pastor Tunde Bakare.

A total of 13 votes were declared invalid for some reasons.

Tinubu was formally declared the winner of the Primary Election by Governor Atiku Bagudu, the Chairman of the APC Election Management Committee.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the winner and APC flag bearer in the 2023 Presidential Election in Nigeria, has been an active politician for decades.

Wikipedia says Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu was born on 29 March 1952. It said he is “a Nigerian accountant and politician who has been National Leader of the All Progressives Congress since the party’s formation in 2013.

“He previously served as the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 and Senator for Lagos West during the brief Third Republic.

“In January 2022, he announced his intention to run for the APC nomination for President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election.”
