Ebonyi State Not Part Of Biafra, Says Umahi

…As he Declares For Nigeria’s Presidency

Ebonyi State Governor, and 2023 presidential aspirant, Dave Umahi, has said his state will not take part in the struggle for the actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra or any agitation for a sovereign nation for the Igbo people.

Umahi made the declaration in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, yesterday, Thursday, during a reception organised for him after declaring his presidential bid in Abuja earlier this week.

As Umahi puts it: “First and foremost, I have been saying it, if anybody tells you about Biafra, tell them Ebonyi State will never be part of Biafra. We are not Biafra.

“We have been so oppressed and now we are finding our feet and you want us to go back. We will not. We will not.”

On his 2023 presidential ambition and why Ndigbo will not pull out Nigeria Umahi said “Ndigbo have investment everywhere across the country.

“Some enemies of the Southeast say if we become president we will divide the country. How will we divide the country when we have investments everywhere,” asked the governor?

On insecurity in Igbo land, Umahi said: “Anyone that wants to cause insecurity in the Southeast must be crushed”.

The governor added: “Ebonyi State is better in a fair and equitable Nigeria because the state has investments everywhere.”
