The National Executive Council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended it’s strike action, which started on 14 February 2022, over six months ago.

Reports reaching NewsOrient said the union took the decision today, Monday, at the ASUU’s NEC meeting held at its headquarters at the University of Abuja.

It would be recalled that ASUU’s demands that led to the strike action include demand for government’s implementation of the Memorandum of Action on funding for revitalisation of public universities, which was signed in December 2020.

Others include demand for Earned Academic Allowances, renegotiation of the 2009 agreement and the deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) for staff payment, among others
