The Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State, on Wednesday, affirmed Bashir Sheriff Machina as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North senatorial district in the 2023 elections.

With this ruling, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to recognize Machina as the authentic candidate for the seat for the 2023 National Assembly Senate Election.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan, the current occupant of the seat, has been laying claim to the ticket.

But with the High Court ruling, INEC will now recognize Machina as the authentic APC flagbearer.

It is however speculated that Senate President Lawan will appeal the High Court ruling.
