Top Journalist, Onabule, Dies At 83

Chief Duro Onabule, a top Nigerian journalist and an erstwhile Chief Press Secretary to former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, is dead.

Onabule died at the age of 83.

Reports available said he died on Tuesday evening.

So far, the cause of his death is not known as some reports said “he was hale and hearty few days ago.”

A former London Correspondent of the Express in the late 1960s, Onobule, worked, in the mid-1970s,  for the Daily Times, rising to become a deputy editor of Headlines magazine.

He joined the Concord Newspaper as the Features Editor and in 1984, he became the editor of Concord newspaper.

The Ijebu-Ode born journalist was the presidential spokesman for most of the General Ibrahim Babangida’s military administration in Nigeria.

He was a columnist in The Sun Newspapers.
