Ripples Over Tinubu’s Meeting With Jonathan
By Our Reporter
Nigeria’s political temperature was again raised on Tuesday when Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held a meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Jonathan’s Abuja residence.
It would be recalled that Jonathan presided over Nigeria on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC flagbearer, Tinubu was accompanied to Jonathan’s residence in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by Kashim Shettima, APC vice-presidential candidate; Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun; Simon Lalong, governor of Plateau; and Bello Matawalle, governor of Zamfara, among others.
Although details of the discussions at the meeting is yet to be made public, it raised the nation’s political pulse partly because of the speculations that have trailed reports on Jonathan’s political future, especially his role on the forthcoming 2023 General Elections in Nigeria.
Recently, reports of APC’s efforts to woo the former president to the ruling party have dominated front pages and news headlines.
