Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI Dies At 95

— Pope Francis to Celebrate Funeral For Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI Thursday

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI was this morning confirmed dead. He was aged 95.

Since his death was confirmed earlier in the morning, world leaders, Christian fateful and others across the world have commended   the unique spirit of the late former Pope who willingly resigned his high office over a decade ago, citing failing health.

He was the first pontiff to resign in the last six centuries.

Meanwhile, Vatican on Saturday said Pope Francis will celebrate funeral for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI On Thursday, January 5, 2023, In St. Peter’s Square.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni told journalists at a special briefing: “On Thursday, January 5, at 9:30 a.m. (0830 GMT) the funeral is expected to take place in Saint Peter’s Square, presided over by the Holy Father,”  he said.
