Peter Obi, the frontline Presidential aspirant on the platform of Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, for the 2027 Elections, has reiterated his resolve to serve only one term if elected Nigerian President in the 2027 Elections.
The former Anambra State Governor, who was the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in 2023 Elections, said this on Thursday on News Central TV.
“I want to be a one-term president because of stability. I would not stay a day longer than four years, even with a gun to my head,” he said.
Obi first made this pledge when he was in African Democratic Congress, ADC.
He maintained this position when he and his supporters joined the NDC, following the multiple crises threatening ADC’s participation in the 2027 Elections.
NewsOrient recalls that, Obi’s political party, NDC, has already zoned the 2027 Presidential slot to the South for only four years before returning power to the North, a development that has contributed immensely in making popular the joint Presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso and their OK Movement.
