Federal Housing Authority Land Grabber Sent To Jail

The High Court of Lagos State (Special Offences Court) siting at Ikeja and presided over by Hon. Justice M. A. Dada (Mrs.), has in a judgment delivered in a criminal trial, on Thursday, the 9th day of July, 2026, convicted one Mr. Peter Obinwanne and his company – Petkev (Nig.) Ltd.
The conviction was on all nine (9) counts in a case of conspiracy, forgery of title documents and criminal conversion of Federal Housing Authority (FHA) land located in Lagos.
The said Peter Obinwanne had, sometimes in 2004, through his company forged title documents, criminally converted landed property, and, had for more than twenty (20) years remained in unlawful occupation of a parcel of land allocated by the FHA to Elder Ogbogu Obumayi Kalu of AMSCO Nig. Ltd.
In a well – considered judgment, sequel to an investigation by officers of the IGP Monitoring Team and a trial wherein the staff of the FHA were called as witnesses, the Court sentenced Mr. Peter Obinwanne to a prison term of two (2) years on counts 1 and 2, one (1) year on count 3 and three (3) years on counts 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 respectively, to run concurrently with the option of fine of Ten Million Naira in lieu of his prison term.
His company, Petkev (Nig.) Ltd. was sentenced to a fine of One Million Naira on each of the Nine (9) counts payable within thirty (30) days of the judgment, failing which the company is to be wound up and all its assets forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The Court further Ordered that the Defendants shall immediately vacate the property and possession restored to Elder Ogbogu O. Kalu.
Commenting on the judgment, Umeh Kalu, SAN of Seasons Law Firm, who are solicitors to Elder Ogbogu O. Kalu and AMSCO Nig. Ltd., commended the Court for a judgment well delivered.
The senior Counsel stated that the judgment was a clear testimony to the fact that no matter the antics and devices of deviants in our society, and, the length of time for which they may last in their unlawful acts, the long arm of justice will definitely catch up with them.
He equally commended the police investigation team for a job well done and the Legal Department of the Federal Housing Authority that stood for the truth in their witness testimonies to the Court in the course of the trial.
Commenting further on the judgment, Mr. Okechukwu Kalu, the Managing Director of AMSCO Nig. Ltd. heralded the judgment, stating that it was a great relief to his Eighty–Six (86) year old father and Chairman of AMSCO Nig. Ltd. – Elder Ogbogu O. Kalu – who has waited patiently for over two (2) decades to get justice.
