Buhari Zooms Off To Ghana For ECOWAS Summit
President Muhammadu Buhari today traveled to Ghana to attend an Extraordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS).
The summit is for Heads of State and Government of the sub-region to deliberate on the political situation in Mali and other parts of the sub-region.
A statement made available by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, said the summit is expected to review progress made by Mali’s military junta on the return of the country to democratic rule.
“The Heads of State will also review the situation in the Republics of Burkina Faso and Guinea,” the statement said.
Among the officials scheduled to accompany Mr President in the one day trip are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, the National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Mongono (rtd.) and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ahmed Rufa’I Abubakar.
