Am Freed And DSS, EFCC Have Apologised For The Error, Says Okupe
Dr Doyin Okupe, the former Director-General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, who was earlier reported to have been arrested today by the Department of State Services (DSS), has been released.
We learnt the Labour Party chieftain was not only released by the DSS, but that senior officers of both DSS and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which reportedly initiated the arrest, apologised to Okupe, stating that he was arrested “in error.”
Confirming his release today and the apology, Okupe wrote via his verified Twitter account: “I was arrested & detained @ the MMIA, Lagos this morning, 12th Jan on my way to UK for medicals; years after my passport had been withheld by the FHC Abuja. I just left the EFCC office where Snr Officers in Lagos & Abuja apologised to me for the error.”
