Few days to the much awaited 2023 General Elections, President Muhammmadu Buhari on Friday chaired a National Council of State meeting in Abuja where he  conferred with past and current leaders of Nigeria on the challenges currently before Nigerians and the forthcoming elections.

At the end of the crucial meeting, the council, which is the highest advisory body to the Federal Government of Nigeria, expressed support to the CBN’s current monetary policy and also advised Buhari to ensure 2023 Elections are held as scheduled, according to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

He also told State house Correspondents that INEC Boss and Inspector General of Police and Security chiefs briefed the council and stated their state of readiness even as the Governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, also briefed them on the current monitory policy and the challenges.

In attendance at the crucial meeting were former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan; Yakubu Gowon, and Abdulsalami Abubakar.

It is reported that ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo was not physically present but that he attended virtually.

Also present are the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Others are governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Darius Ishaku (Taraba), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), and Babagana Zulum (Borno).

Other governors that joined virtually were Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Simon Lalong (Plateau) and the Deputy Governors of Enugu state, Nasarawa state and Bauchi State.

The Minister of the FCT, Mohammed Bello; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele also attended the meeting.

Others, according to reports are INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu is attended physically.

Service Chiefs and Heads of security agencies were also physically present.
