Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has joined Nigeria’s presidential race ahead of the 2023 General Elections. He seeks the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While making the declaration yesterday, Monday, in Sokoto, Tambuwal, who was a former Speaker of the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015, said he remains the candidate to beat.
It would be recalled that before Tambuwal’s declaration of interest yesterday, two former Senate Presidents, Anyim Pius Anyim and Bukola Saraki, had declared interests to contest the plum seat also on the ticket of the PDP.
Also, notwithstanding that he has not formally declared interest, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, is also believed to be one of the foremost aspirants on PDP’s platform ahead of the presidential election.
Other major contenders to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, include Bola Tinubu, Rochas Okorocha, David Umahi, Orji Uzor Kalu, among others on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
