2023: Nigerian Military Under Pressure To Compromise, Says Defense Chief
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has said the military is being pressured to compromise the 2023 Elections.
He was however reported by Arise News as calling on Nigerians to have implicit confidence in Nigerian military officers and men who, according to him, “will remain totally committed to being neutral and apolitical.”
Speaking with newsmen Thursday at the State House, Abuja, the Defence Chief said security personnel come under pressure through inducements.
According to the Defense boss “necessary measures are being put in place to ensure that security personnel obey President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent directive to maintain neutrality.”
He added that “personnel are being trained to be more professional while rules of engagement before, during and after the elections have been codified and distributed to them.”
