Burna Boy, Nigerian super star and Grammy-winning artist has explained why he suddenly walked out of a well attended show in Lagos during the festivities.

His sudden exit from the show, the #GreaterLagosCountdown2025, has generated controversy across Nigerian entertainment sector.

Responding to the controversy, Burna Boy resorted to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, where he explained: “It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and I did almost an hour”.

“Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing. I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night.”

His parting words to his fans: “Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year!”

NewsOrient reports that Burna Boy walked out of the stage after a fan stormed the stage while he was still performing in a seeming attempt to touch him.

It would be recalled that security personnel had taken away the fan swiftly, but the artist paused and left the stage without offering any explanation to the audience.

Since then, reaction on social media and Nigerian entertainment industry has been divisive. While some accused Burna Boy of arrogance and disrespect to his fans, others blamed the over enthusiastic fan, pointing out that Burna Boy has repeatedly warned against fans jumping onto the stage while he is performing.
