Tinubu Swears In Kudirat Kekere-Ekun As Acting Chief Justice Of Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn-in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
To conduct her swearing-in this morning, Tinubu had to cut short his trip to France. He returned to Abuja in the early morning hours today, Friday.
The swearing-in ceremony took place shortly after Mr President’s return at the Council Chambers in the State House, Abuja.
NewsOrient reports that as at the retirement of Justice Ariwoola as the CJN, on Thursday, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun became the most Senior Justice on the Supreme Court bench.
Aged 66, Justice Kekere-Ekun was born on May 7, 1958. She earned her law degree from University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian bar in 1981.
She later obtained LL.M from London School of Economics and Political Science in November 1983.
Considered as one of the erudite female jurists of her time, Justice Kekere-Ekun has solid professional experience.
She began her legal career in Lagos as a private legal practitioner from 1985 to 1989 when she was appointed a Senior Magistrate Grade II at Lagos State Judiciary.
She later became a Judge of the High Court of Lagos State on July 19, 1996.
Her confirmation as the country’s Chief Justice will be after Senate approval.
NewsOrient had reported on August 15, 2024, that Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun would be appointed Nigeria’s Chief Justice as soon as Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, aged 70, retires on Thursday.
