Three Dead, Some Trapped As Building Collapse In Lagos
At least, three workers have been confirmed dead while yet-to-be determined number of people are still trapped in the rubble as a three-storey building still undergoing construction collapsed in the Akanbi crescent area of Yaba, Lagos, yesterday, Saturday evening.
The building collapsed into a nearby building.
An eyewitness said by 8.30pm, Saturday, one person was confirmed dead, but by this morning, Sunday, February 13, 2022, at least two others had been found dead there.
However, on the spot report from LASEMA reads: “Upon arrival at the incident scene, a 3-storey building under construction was discovered to have collapsed.
“Further investigation revealed that the construction workers were on site when the structure came down.
“With quick deployment of the agency’s heavy-duty equipment, one adult male has been successfully pulled out of the rubble.”
The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Dr. Olufemi Osanyintolu, who is coordinating the rescue and recovery efforts, said the operation is still ongoing.
