There is tension in Bayelsa State as stakeholders still await final result of the Governorship Election conducted in the Southsouth State at the weekend.

While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the results of the Governorship Elections conducted same weekend in Imo State and Kogi State, it postponed announcement of Bayelsa Election result until today, Monday.

The decision to delay announcement of Bayelsa State Election report, according to some reports, is “because votes are still being counted in some areas following Saturday’s voting.”

However NewsOrient reports that this further delay in declaring the winner has heightened the already tensed atmosphere in the Niger Delta area.

It has been reported earlier here that Bayelsa State Governorship Election at the weekend was dogged by intrigues and violence.
