The Supreme Court today affirmed the election of Lagos State’s Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The judgement was delivered this morning by a five member panel in a unanimous judgment delivered by Justices Lawal Garba and Adamu Jauro.

The Supreme Court judgement affirmed the declaration of the APC’s candidate as the winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Lagos State.

To pass the judgement, the learned justices of the Supreme Court dismissed two separate appeals by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of Labour Party and Abdulazeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) challenging Sanwo-Olu and APC victory in Lagos State during the 2023 Governorship Election.

The apex court thereafter held that it has “found no cogent reason to deviate from the concurrent judgments of the tribunal and Court of Appeal which held that Sanwo-Olu was lawfully elected as Governor of Lagos State.”
