The Supreme Court today affirmed the election of Francis Nwifuru as the Governor of Ebonyi State.

The apex court, in its lead judgment, delivered by Justice Tijjani Abubakar, dismissed two separate appeals that sought to sack Nwifuru of All Progressives Congress (APC), as Governor of Ebonyi State.

The appeals against Nwifuru’s election were lodged by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi Odii, and All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) candidate, Prof. Benard Odoh.

But in it’s ruling today, the Supreme Court held that it saw no reason to set aside the concurrent verdicts of the Ebonyi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, which upheld Nwifuru’s election.
