The Supreme Court sitting in Abuja, today, Tuesday, May 9, 2023, affirmed the election of Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful Governor of Osun State.

NewsOrient Network had reported earlier today that the Supreme Court will today choose between Gboyega Oyetola and Ademola Adeleke, who is the rightfully elected governor of Osun State.

Former Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, had contested the ruling of the Appeal Court on the winner of the Governorship Election conducted in the State in Nov. 16, 2022.

Oyetola has asked the apex court to reverse the judgment of the Appeal Court, which on March 25, 2023 upturned the earlier decision of the Federal Election Tribunal that declared Oyetola the winner and ruled in favour of Ademola Adeleke, who is now the incumbent governor of the state.

The five-member panel of the Supreme Court, on Monday, fixed the judgement date for Tuesday, May 9, after taking arguments from the two parties in the case.
