Super Eagles Qualify For AFCON Last Four

Super Eagles of Nigeria today qualified for African Cup of Nations (AFCON) last four after beating Angola 1-0 in the first quarter finals of the tournament played late in the evening of Friday, February 2, 2024.

Atlanta striker, Ademola Lookman scored the winning goal in the first half at 41st minute.

What would have been Nigeria’s second goal was scored by hot striker, Victor Osimhen, in a 75th-minute header, but the goal was ruled out by the video assistant referee as offside.

Nigeria will face the winner of Saturday’s quarter-final between Cape Verde and South Africa in the last four of the tournament.

Meanwhile, reports monitored live showed Super Eagles fans’ spirit lifted very high by the presence of Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party to personally join in cheering the Super Eagles players to victory.

Following today’s victory, NewsOrient learnt that Super Eagles ardent fans are now more confident that the team will do Nigeria proud in the ongoing AFCON.
