Afro beat musician, Seun Kuti, has finally been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, known as Panti, in Lagos State, over an alleged assault on a police officer on Saturday.

A viral video at the weekend showed Kuti severally slapping a uniformed policeman on duty along a busy part of Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

In their reactions, concerned Nigerians expressed shock and described the action as “embarrassing” and “dehumanizing.”

The Inspector-General of Police, at the weekend, ordered arrest and detention of the top musician while the Chairman of the Police Service Commission directed immediate and diligent prosecution of Seun Kuti.

In line with the orders, NewsOrient learnt that Seun Kuti was promptly arrested and is being detained at Panti.

It has also been confirmed that Seun Kuti will be represented in court by Falana and Falana Chambers.
