As part of his strategies to remain relevant in the politics of Rivers State, former Governor of Rivers State and serving Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to defeat Governor Simi Fubara in the ongoing power game in the oil-rich Rivers State.

One of his strategies to ensure the envisaged victory, it seems, is his belief that his loyalists in Rivers State House of Assembly will eventually impeach Governor Simi Fubara.

Hinting on this strategy, Wike said: “I won’t stop the Assembly from carrying out their constitutional duties.”

He gave this hint in his address during a Thanksgiving Service held in Abalama town, Asari-Toru Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State on Saturday.

He further vowed that Governor Fubara and his supporters cannot push him out of Rivers State power corridor.

As he puts it at the Thanksgiving Service: “Our effort, our sweat, we cannot be pushed out. All of you suffered, and somebody will just come because they gave him power overnight to tell us to get out. Who told him he can tell us to get out? Will you accept the ‘get out?”

NewsOrient reports that the battle for the soul of Rivers State between former Governor Nyesom Wike and his erstwhile political son, Governor Simi Fubara, remains a puzzle political leaders in Rivers and Abuja, including other stakeholders seem unable to unravel yet.

How this would be resolved remains to be seen.
