The power game in Rivers State between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his erstwhile political godfather, former Governor Nyesom Wike, deepened today, as 26 State lawmakers loyal to Wike formally accused Fubara of “gross misconduct.”

Informed observers told NewsOrient that this formal allegation is the first official move towards the group’s reported plan to impeach Governor Simi Fubara and the Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu.

The state lawmakers alleged that Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy Ngozi Odu committed “gross misconduct.”

In a letter they sent to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Martin Amaewhule, the 26 lawmakers accused Governor Fubara, amongst others, of “reckless and unconstitutional expenditure of public funds”, “hindering or obstructing the Rivers State House of Assembly,” and “appointment of persons to occupy offices/positions in the Rivers State Government without allowing for the requirement of screening and confirmation.”
