The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has said his party will not go back on its scheduled National Convention, billed for November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Damagum said this on Tuesday at the inauguration of the party’s 110-member National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, following the approval of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

Addressing the convention committee members, Damagun said: “As you know, the 2025 National Convention is scheduled to be held in Ibadan and that is sacrosanct, and I want to make it very clear.”

The convention committee is led by the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is the Vice Chairman, while Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State is to serve as the Secretary.

Addressing the members of the committee, Damagum said: “My charge to this Committee is simple: as you carry out your work, let fairness, equity, justice and unity of purpose be your guiding principles.

“Let us set aside personal grievances and ambitions that do not serve the collective interest,” he said, adding: “Let us focus on the bigger picture: building public trust by proving to Nigerians, through this convention, that the PDP remains the vanguard of democracy and the blueprint for due process.

“Let every member of our party see, in your conduct, the assurance that PDP belongs to all.

“I have no doubt that we will deliver a convention that reaffirms the PDP as the party of the people, by the people, and for the people,” he said.

NewsOrient reports that except unexpected circumstance changes the schedule, PDP will hold it’s National Convention between November 15 and 16 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
