Pastors In RCCG Now To Retire At 70, Says Adeboye

— Retires National Overseer, Pastor Joseph Obayemi

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has pegged the retirement age of the church’s pastors at 70 years.

This is part of the major changes Pastor Adeboye announced in the Church at the weekend.

A report from Church Times said other major changes include the retirement of the Church’s National Overseer, Pastor Joseph Obayemi.

The report said Pastor Sunday Akande is to replace Obayemi as the RCCG National Overseer. He will serve for a period of two years as Pastor Adeboye has already penciled a tenure of two years for the office of RCCG National Overseer.

Adeboye made the announcement while addressing RCCG ministers on Sunday, August 7.

He also hinted that the person that would take over from him as the General Overseer “will be a young man.”

Pastor Adeboye, who celebrated his 80th birthday anniversary recently, took over as the General Overseer of the church from the Founder of the church, Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, in 1981 and has served in that position for 41 years and still counting.
