The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 Nigerian Elections, Mr Peter Obi, has reacted to reports that the former Spokesperson of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organisation, Kenneth Okonkwo, may have been a mole planted in Labour Party.
Obi says he sees Kenneth Okonkwo as “a beloved brother” and that he cannot be a mole in Labour Party given the crucial role he played in the party during the last presidential elections.
A press statement signed by Yunusa Tanko, the spokesman of Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) on the development reads:
“Following the announcement of the former Spokesperson of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Organization in the 2023 election, Kenneth Okonkwo that he was leaving both the Labour Party and the Obidients, I as Chief Spokesman of the Campaign contacted our principal, Obi, for his reaction and he told me he was sad by the development because he sees Okonkwo as a junior brother who played his role diligently during our struggle.
Obi told me succinctly that Okonkwo cannot be called a mole in our family with the services he rendered and still renders in our struggle to create a new Nigeria that is possible.
When I asked Obi if I could make his views on Okonkwo public, he said yes because the public needs to know that there is no personal misunderstanding between us and Okonkwo but only a disagreement based on style and approach to problems.”
NewsOrient featured report earlier today in which the Labour Party, in it’s reaction to Okonkwo’s defection to APC and to some comments allegedly made against Obi and the party, said moles planted in Labour Party will be exposed.
