Naira Crisis: Load Your ATMs And Dispense Cash Now, CBN Directs Banks

 — Urges Banks To Open On Saturdays, Sundays

As part of Federal Government’s current efforts to reverse the poor circulation of Naira notes in Nigeria and thus reduce the agonies of average Nigerians already squeezed by cash crunch, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said it has evacuated banknotes from its vaults to commercial banks so as to dispense them to common Nigerians across the country.

The apex bank which also directed all commercial banks to open for operation on Saturdays and Sundays, told the banks to load their Automated Teller Machines (ATM) with cash immediately to ease the sufferings of Nigerians.

Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department of the CBN, Isa AbdulMumin, who disclosed this in Abuja, on Friday, stated that “a substantial amount of money, in various denominations, had been received by the commercial banks for onward circulation to their respective customers.”

Also, Channels Television reports, monitored in Lagos, said the “CBN had directed all banks to load their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) as well as conduct physical operations in the banking halls through the weekends.”
