Kano 2023: Appeal Court’s Claim Of CTC Error Is Outrageously Scandalous, Says State Govt

Kano State Government has described declaration of the Appeal Court that there was an error on the Certified True Copy (CTC) of its judgement on the state’s governorship election as “outrageously scandalous.”

Controversy broke after the court sacked Governor Abba Yusuf of ANPP and declared the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Nasiru Gawuna as the winner of the Kano State Governorship Election only for a CTC of the judgment to emerge on Wednesday showing Gov Yusuf as the winner of the election.

The contradiction has been a source of intense controversy in Kano State and across Nigeria.

While the court said it was a typographical error, the Kano State Justice Commissioner, Haruna Dederi, said such a declaration by a court is “scandalous”.

The State Commissioner asked on Thursday’s edition of Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily: “What is a typographical error? Does it affect one word? Does it affect two words? Does it affect three words? How can a typographical error affect whole paragraphs?

“This is something that cannot be accepted by any discernible mind as I have said.

This is something that is outrageously scandalous and it cannot be accepted. We are not satisfied.”

Already the matter has been taken to the Supreme Court for final adjudication.
