The power play in Rivers State between Rivers State Governor, Simi Fubara and former State Governor Nyesom Wike still being staged at the Rivers State House of Assembly took a new turn on Monday as 27 members defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Preliminary information from Rivers State House of Assembly suggested the lawmakers’ formal reason for the action is an alleged division within the PDP.

A trending video, viewed today by NewsOrient, shows the lawmakers in a mobile vehicle, flying APC mini flags and singing joyously: “On your mandate we shall stand; On your mandate we shall stand…”

Following the development, some observers told NewsOrient the power play in Rivers State may have entered a crucial stage.

No one can say for sure now, how the political drama will proceed.
