The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, on Thursday disclosed that 35 governors are in support of the establishment of State Police in Nigeria. They believe that to be able to tackle insecurity in the country, Nigeria must adopt creation of state police.

Governor Sule revealed this when he featured on the Thursday edition of a Channels Television programme: “Politics Today.”

He said the issue of State Police was on the item on Thursday at the National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja and presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Sule said: “State Police was coincidentally an item to be discussed today.

“Today’s meeting is one of the best of NEC I have personally attended.

“We discussed the issue of livestock, we discussed the issue of agriculture, about technical education, and skill accusation.

“All the issues we discussed are issues that have direct bearing on the lives of people.

“We discussed today for hours.

“We stepped down the issue of State Police, but the state police matter was on the item.

“Thirty-five states have already agreed on the state police.

“Majority of the states are in support of state police.

“As far as we are concerned, we are ready to go in that area,” he said.
