INEC To Begin More Regular Media Briefings On 2023 Polls
As part of it’s preparation for the 2023 General Elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to begin regular media briefings to update Nigerians on the activities of the commission on the forthcoming election and other related developments.
A statement on Wednesday, personally signed by INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, said the commission “will start with biweekly briefing and later progress to weekly and daily briefings.”
Reassuring Nigerians of “free, fair, credible and verifiable elections supported by technology,” Yakubu said the commission guarantees Nigerians of transparent accreditation and uploading of polling unit results for citizens to view in real-time on Election Day.
According to him, “there is no going back on Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) for the 2023 General Elections.
The INEC boss also appealed to political parties and political leaders to conduct their campaigns peacefully and eschew divisiveness, rancour and violence.
