As the clock ticks slowly but steadily to the appointed time for the planned nationwide protest against bad governance and hunger, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to shelve the planned ‘EndBadGovernance’ protest slated for next month.

Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, conveyed this message when he briefed “selected State House correspondents after a meeting with the President.

A report monitored from Channels Television, quoted Idris as telling the correspondents that “Tinubu urged the organisers of the protest to shelve the plan and await the president’s response to their complaints.”

“The issue of the planned protest, Mr President does not see any need for that. He’s asked them to shelve that plan. He’s asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas,” the minister said.

The protest against hunger and bad governance in Nigeria is reportedly scheduled to be held across all states of the Federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in August 2024.

So, as the month of July gradually comes to an end, Nigerian socio-political and economic scenes have been inundated by varied responses over the planned nationwide protest.
