Before last Friday’s encounter with Rwanda, many sports analysts had dismissed Nigeria’s Super Eagles chances of qualifying for 2026 World Cup.

But with it’s dazzling performance against Rwanda, where Victor Osimhen scored twice, the Super Eagles have indeed revived their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

How did they turn the table around in their favour? It’s the Friday night’s superlative 2-0 win over Rwanda in Kigali that did the magic. The Nigerian side, especially the forward team was electric.

A convincing first victory in the qualifying series with a 2-0 win over second-placed Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, gives Super Eagles a great boost.

With Victor Osimhen’s precise finishings and Ademola Lookman’s superlative kicks, amongst others, Chille’s men tried to make a point that it may indeed be difficult for any country to produce a better forward ahead of FIFA 2026 World Cup finals.

So, as Nigeria prepares to face Zimbabwe on Monday, book makers are saying the country’s quest for FIFA 2026 World Cup qualification may no longer be a mere illusion.
