Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petition, angry over the failure of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, the Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein and 17 other Chief Executive Officers’ failure to honour the committee’s several invitations have ordered their arrest.
The lawmakers asked the Inspector General Of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest and ensure the top executives appeared before the committee on December 14, 2023.
The arrest order followed a motion led by Hon Fred Agbedi (PDP/Bayelsa) on Tuesday where he expressed disgust that the top executives have severally failed to honour invitations the House committee extended to them.
Ruling on the motion, the committee chairman, Micheal Irom (APC-Cross River), said the IGP should ensure the CEOs were brought before the committee on December 14.
Some of the other affected Chief Executives include that of Western Africa Exploration and Production; Alteo Eastern E&P Co. Ltd., First Exploration & Production Ltd., the Managing Director, First E&P OML 8385 JV, Heirs Holdings Oil and Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU), Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Total Exploration & Producing Nig (TEPN), Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC), Pan Ocean Oil Nig, Ltd, Newcross E&P Ltd and Frontier Oil Ltd.
