Friends and associates of former President Muhammadu Buhari have praised him as he marked his 81st birthday.

Among those that have greeted the former President is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu yesterday described his friend and political associate as “an icon of truth, justice and patriotism.”

President Tinubu in a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, spoke about Buhari’s leadership credentials and feats.

He also described Buhari as “the finest paradigm of sacrifice, devotion, patriotism, and fidelity to the national cause.”

Other leaders that hailed the former President during his birthday anniversary yesterday include former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Obarisi Omo-Agege, among many others.

In a goodwill message, Dr Jonathan signed and made available to newsmen on Saturday, the former President said: “I am pleased to join your family, friends, well-wishers and other Nigerians to congratulate you on the occasion of your 81st birthday.

You are a determined leader who has been resolute in national service and commitment to the progress of our country.

“As you celebrate, I salute you for your faithful stewardship to Nigeria. On behalf of my family, I wish you sound health, peace and joy.”

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, also congratulated former President Muhammadu Buhari on his 81st birthday.

Obarisi Omo-Agege, in his felicitation stated that Buhari is a reference point for patriotic and unblemished public leadership on the African continent.

NewsOrient reports that Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Army General, was both a former Military Head of State of Nigeria and a former two-terms democratically elected Executive President of the country.
