—Yet To Be Determined Lives Lost

It is gathered this morning that some shops at Ajasa Street area of Ose Main Market, Onitsha, Anambra State, got burnt at early morning hours of today, Saturday.

Although the cause of the fire is not yet agreed on, the fire outbreak at the side of the main market where chemicals are sold, has been confirmed by a relevant government official.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Anambra State fire chief, Martin Agbili, said “firefighters battled the fire all through the night.”

He said: “At about 1:02 am on Saturday, the Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of a fire outbreak at No 4 Ajasa Street, Ose Main Market, Onitsha, where they sell drums of chemicals.”

As at the time of filing this report, the extent of damage is yet to be ascertained although some lives have been reported lost..
