Former Governor of Abia State and the Senator representing Abia North zone, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has urged youths to shun violence and embrace peace for the overall economic development and progress of Nigeria.

He said these even as he inspected a multi-billion naira cashew processing plant he is building in his Igbere community.

He said young people in Abia North Senatorial District, Abia State and indeed Nigeria should “embrace dialogue, tolerance, compromise and accommodation for economic development.”

According to him, for real economic development, “there is no alternative to peace.”

Kalu further appealed to youths in Abia State “to work closely with the government and security operatives in the state to restore peace and stability for businesses to strive.”

According to a statement issued by his media office on Monday, Senator Kalu made the call on Sunday in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, while speaking with journalists on the need for enduring peace in the Senatorial District, Abia State and Nigeria at large.
