Don Ubani’s Claims Against Me Are False, Libelous, Gov Otti Says, Demands Retraction Or Lawsuit

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has described as libelous the wordings of an article, “Governor Alexander Otti of Abia State Should Be Clapped For,” written by Sir Don Ubani and published in his Facebook page and in an online publication, equityreporters.ng.
The governor has therefore written a letter to the online publication, through his lawyer, Dr Sonny Ajala SAN, to retract the claims in the article or face a lawsuit.
In the seven paged letter, dated October 2, 2024 and signed by his Counsel, Dr Sonny Ajala SAN, Gov Otti said the offensive article, which was widely circulated, portrayed him as “a dubious, unconscionable and aggressive land grabber, and a cruel, unscrupulous person, a vicious, stone hearted and wicked person.
He also said the article portrayed him, in the eyes of his numerous supporters and admirers who read it as “a scheming person that conducts himself in a manner unbecoming of his status as the Governor and Chief Executive of the Government of Abia State.”
As a result of these, Gov Alex Otti demands from the writer and publisher of the publication “a written apology to be published/circulated as wide as the offensive article/publication.
He also demands from Sir Ubani “a written retraction of your malicious online news report of 26/9/2024, published on your Facebook Wall and your Blog ‘equityreporters.ng and the said retraction to be further published in four national dailies, to wit: the Thisday Newspaper, the Punch Newspaper, the Nation Newspaper and the national Ambassador Newspaper.”
He equally demanded “compensation of N5billion (Five Billion Naira) for the false and malicious publications that grossly tarnished the reputation of our client before his teeming colleagues in the financial sector, his political associates, admirers and supporters.”
Gov Alex Otti’s counsel then gave Sir Don Ubani seven (7) days notice to comply with his client’s demands, as contained in the letter sent to his email address, sirdonubani@gmail.com or he will approach “the court to seek legal redress.”
