Labour Party (LP)  and it’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 Election in Nigeria, Peter Obi, have finally unveiled Obi’s running mate. He is Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed.

As NewsOrient reported earlier, the unveiling follows the formal withdrawal of Doyin Okupe, who  earlier stood in.

Since the news of Datti’s choice to pair with Obi filtered out, many informed commentators have described it as “a masterstroke.”

Aside his other favourable credentials, some observers who spoke to NewsOrient laid emphasis on Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed’s economic knowledge and his interest in the affairs of common Nigerians both as an activist and as a philanthropist.

Many still recall when, in 2007, Datti boldly spoke out against corruption in Nigeria.

That year, Datti took the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court “over conduct of past elections.”

Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed, who served as a Senator, is the Founder and Pro–Chancellor of Baze University, an independent university in Abuja.
