The National Electoral Commission (INEC), this afternoon, suspended further election collation in Abia State over the fracas and contending results from the lone outstanding local government area, Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.

The Commission also suspended Enugu State Election collation over outstanding results of two local government areas, Nsukka and Nkanu East.

A press statement signed by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Barrister Festus Okoye, said the decision to suspend election collation in Abia State and Enugu State was reached by INEC after a meeting this afternoon.

Appealing for understanding, Okoye said “the commission hereby suspends the collation of results in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and the two outstanding local government areas of Enugu State which are yet to be collated. A review will be undertaken immediately before the process is concluded.”

Recall that NewsOrient yesterday reported how thugs, identified as PDP thugs invaded INEC collation centre yesterday, disrupted proceedings and held some INEC staff.
