Saturday’s suicide bombing at Gwoza, Borno State, which left about 18 people dead, has been condemned by many across the world, including Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the United States of America.
Hell was let loose in the Northeastern community of Gwoza, June 29, 2024, when four suicide bombers set off improvised explosive devices (IEDs), killing many and inflicting gory injuries on others.
In a statement on Sunday, signed by the Presidential Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu described the suicide attack as “desperate act of terror” and “horrific.”
He said the “purveyors of wanton violence shall have a certain encounter with justice and that these cowardly attacks are only but an isolated episode as his government will not allow the nation to slither into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.”
The United States Government, according to reports monitored in Channels Television also condemned the attack, describing it as “cruel and heartless.”
The US statement reads: “The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the horrific attacks that took place in Gwoza, Borno State on June 29.
“These reprehensible acts of violence show a cruel and heartless disregard for human life,” the Mission said in a Sunday message.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wish a full recovery to the injured. These abhorrent attacks are a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by terrorism in the region,” the US said.
Meanwhile, NewsOrient reports that some people, including suspected female bombers have been arrested by the police in the area after the suicide attack.
