Body Of DSS Lady Who Plunged Into Lagos Lagoon Yet To Be Recovered
By Our Reporter
As at Friday night, the body of the female staff of the Department of State Service (DSS), identified as Adetutu Adedokun, who was believed to have plunged into Lagos lagoon from Third Mainland bridge on Thursday was yet to be found.
A statement by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the agency is yet to recover the body.
Before the statement, there were conflicting media reports about the incident. While some reported that “her body has been recovered,” others reported that “she was discovered alive.”
But a statement by LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu last night, tittled: “The Update on Alleged Suicide Attempt on Third Mainland Bridge,” said the search for her body is still ongoing.
The statement reads: “The body of adult female, identified as Adetutu Adedokun that was reported by eyewitnesses to have jumped into the lagoon, is yet to be recovered.
“The lady is said to be a staff of the Department of State Services. Investigations have failed to produce the driver of the car that she was in prior to the unfortunate incident.
“The response team has changed from rescue to recovery and is now observing the tide and is relying on locals for any useful information”.
NewsOrient reports that the alleged suicide attempt occurred on Thursday.
Earlier reports on the suicide mission said “the woman, who alighted from an Uber, willingly plunged into the lagoon.”
Since the news of the incident broke, it has been reported that the lady who allegedly plunged into the lagoon is a staff of DSS who recently got engaged with her boyfriend.
