Following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, yesterday, in the massive air raids organized by the United States of America and Israel, the Iranian government has vowed that the two countries, US and Israel, “will pay for it.”

This is even as Iran announced a 40 Days mourning and seven days public holidays over the death of Khamenei and many other top leaders of Iran in the air raids.

Iranian state television confirmed “the 86-year-old cleric’s death early Saturday, interrupting regular programming with Quran recitations and images of Khamenei framed by a black banner.”

The announcement was accompanied by a statement from the Supreme National Security Council, which described his killing as “martyrdom” and blamed Washington and Tel Aviv for what it called “an unprovoked act of aggression.”

A report in AP quoted a television presenter in Iran as saying: “With the martyrdom of the supreme leader, his path and mission neither will be lost nor will be forgotten; on the other hand, they will be pursued with greater vigour and zeal.”

Reacting to Iranian authority’s threat to retaliate against US and Israel, US President Donald Trump said: “They better don’t do that, because if they do, we will hit them as has never been seen before.”
