It has been confirmed that Arise News crew members covering the ongoing Governorship and House of Assembly Elections in Lagos were today attacked in front of the palace of Oba Elegushi.

The television station said the thugs seized the television crew’s equipment, including cameras, microphones, camera stands.

Eye witnesses said the crew members were brutalised and left with various degrees of injuries.

It would be recalled that the Oba of Ikate Elegushi Kingdom, Saheed Ademola (Kusenla III), declared a three-day Oro rite on non-indigenes and women from midnight to 5:30 a.m., including on Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly Election Day.

In a memo issued to the residents of Ikate-Elegushi, the monarch had announced that there would be a restriction of movement to perform the Oro rite in the community from Wednesday to Saturday, the day of the election.
