Tension In APC As Adamu Suspends All Directors Of The Party
There is tension in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Friday ordered all the Departmental Directors at the party headquarters to proceed on an indefinite suspension.
Comin before the forthcoming party’s presidential primaries, some have expressed fear that it may not be in the interest of all stakeholders.
It would however be recalled that Adamu had, on assumption of office on April 1, 2022, hinted at the possibility of reorganising the national Secretariat of the ruling party.
He had also disclosed the possibility of probing the staff of the secretariat, especially its directors.
Our source said he started his promised reorganisation with what insiders described as “remodeling of the party Secretariat.”
This, we gathered, included relocation of his office from the third to the ground floor.
With the current directive, our source at the National Secretariat of the party said ‘ there is tension because critical interests are certain to be touched either positively or negatively.”
Coming when the party is poised to pick a candidate that will represent it in the contest for the election of President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor, many have raised eyebrows wondering if the decision is linked to the choice that will eventually emerge APC’s Presidential Candidate in 2023 Elections.
