The immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, just hours after he handed over power to his successor, Prof Charles Soludo.

It was gathered that Obiano was picked up at about 8.30 pm at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, while trying to board a flight to Houston Texas in the United States of America.

It is confirmed that Obiano is still being detained at the EFCC facility in Lagos.

It would be recalled that the former governor was placed on EFCC watchlist in November 2021.
