Kanu Wins As Court Orders FG To Pay N1b Damages
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indiginous People of Biafra (IPOB), today defeated the Federal Government of Nigeria in a case he filed at Aba High Court.
The court, in its judgement a few minutes ago, rules that Nigerian Government violated Kanu’s fundamental right.
It orders FG to pay N1Billion to him and to issue a letter of apology to him.
The court also recommends political solution to the Biafran agitation.
It would be recalled that Kanu, who is still in detention in Nigeria, dragged the federal government to Abia High Court in August 2021 through his lawyer, Alloy Ejimakor, seeking among others that invasion of his residence in 2017, his arrest and torture in Kenya last year were infringement of his fundamental right and therefore unlawful.
